British Flowers and How to Work with Them: A Professional Course for Florists and Floristry Students
This year, we've teamed up with professional flower growers, Featherstone English Flower Co. to offer a series of two-day courses for each season, each of which dives deep into everything you might need to know about working with British flowers.
The price for the courses is £570 per season (two day class)
or £2050 for all four seasons.
Spring
11th & 12th May 2023
(two day course)
The Spring session will see you touring the farm, learning about the different sources of cut material in the UK, cutting and conditioning Spring blooms. The floristry element will include demonstrations from Sarah alongside creating table centres and bouquets which you will photograph and take home. On the second day, we will be discussing how to price correctly for different styles of arrangement and put all of your designs together to create an impressive banquet tablescape.
Summer
17th & 18th August 2023
(two day course)
Autumn
30th & 31st October 2023
(two day course)
For Autumn we will be looking into using colour and texture in bouquets then working as a team to create arch installations. After a tour of the field and harvesting stems to be used for your designs, we will be looking into speciality Autumn flowers, where and how to source them. As well as giving guidance around costing large installations, and a practice at doing it yourself, we will be discussing some of the administrative details regarding the installation of large designs.
Winter
6th & 7th February 2024
(two day course)
For the final session in Winter we'll be creating a large hoop installation and individual wreaths, bringing them together for a dramatic installation in Featherstone's incredible barn. We will show how to incorporate living plant materials in suspended arrangements, what flowers and foliage is available during the winter from British growers, and gain confidence in using them in the Winter. Jess will teach you knots suitable for using for hanging installations.
The Details
This course will take place in the Featherstone Flowers' beautiful barn in Nether Wallop, Stockbridge.
Lunch & Refreshments are included in the cost of all courses.
All flowers used on the course are yours to take with you at the end of each session - we will provide vessels into which you will arrange designs, but we recommend that you bring a bucket with you to ensure safe travel of fresh flowers.
There will be ample opportunity to ask any questions and photograph your work throughout the sessions.
