This will be an immersive floral experience where we'll demonstrate how we go about creating designs, and then you will have the opportunity to create your own pieces, with our guidance, surrounded by flowers and likeminded souls.
We teach considered floral design, using British flowers and foliage with the ever shifting seasons of the natural world as our inspiration.
You will learn about sourcing flowers, conditioning, creating mechanics, understanding costings, and working sustainably alongside practical, hands-on designing experience.
At the end of each day, once you have had the opportunity to photograph your work, we'll pack your designs up ready to take home with you.
Course Outline
Day One
10am - 4:30pm
A.M. We'll kick off with Introductions and coffee followed by a talk from one of our brilliant British flower growers. Then we'll discuss the tools and equipment we swear by, and how to maintain them to ensure they last.
P.M. The afternoon session will start with a discussion on sourcing and then conditioning flowers and foliage correctly.
Next, we'll demonstrate how we go about creating bowl arrangements. You'll choose your floral palette and then create your own.
Day Two
10am - 4:30pm
A.M. Bouquets two ways. Knowing how to create a spiral handtied is such a useful skill to have, we often use this method for gift bouquets and bridesmaid's bouquets. When we need to create an asymmetrical or larger bouquet, we create bouquets with a chicken wire armature as it gives extra support. We'll demonstrate both methods, and then you'll create your own.
You'll have the opportunity to choose from a selection of ribbons to finish your bouquet beautifully.
P.M. A guest teacher will join us for social media training, because even when you have all of the talent, all of the skills and all of the enthusiasm, it can still be really hard to show the rest of the world what you can do. We'll finish the day after a discussion about what will happen on day three.
Day Three
10am - 5:30pm
A.M. Installation Day. We'll pack the van with everything needed for our floral installation and head to our destination.
We'll walk you through creating floral installations off site and then begin setting up the structure, ensure it's secure, and as a team we'll green it up.
P.M. Our photographer will join us to capture you at work and get some pictures of the results of the finished installation.
Once the installation has been shot, we'll dismantle everything and pack the van before heading back to the studio.
Day Four
10:00am - 4:30pm
A.M. We will go over the installation we created on day 3 and answer any questions you have about working off site. Next, we'll talk costings, stem counts, pricing and quoting for wedding florals.
P.M. Our final afternoon will be all about the smallest designs - Boutonnieres, Corsages, Cake flowers and Hair flowers. How far in advance you can make them, how to transport them, how we like to photograph ours at Floribunda Rose. We'll demonstrate, and you'll create your own.
Our last day will end with cake and bubbly!
